Dr. Rikke Schultz, DVM
Dr. Rikke Schultz graduated as a veterinarian in 1992 from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Copenhagen. After graduation she worked for five years in a mixed veterinary practice in Iceland. She later returned to Denmark and worked for eight years in a large equine veterinary practice.
Since 2006, she has run her own holistic veterinary practice focusing on horses and dogs. In her work she primarily treats animals with musculoskeletal problems, performance issues, chronic pain, or functional disorders of the locomotor system. She combines conventional veterinary medicine with complementary approaches such as osteopathy, fascia-oriented therapy, acupuncture, and other functional treatment methods.
Dr. Schultz became certified in veterinary acupuncture (IVAS) in 1997, in equine osteopathy (Pascal Evrard, ISEO) in 2003, and in veterinary homeopathy in 2016. Since 2006 she has also undertaken extensive training in the Osteopathic Functional Indirect Technique (F.I.T.), which she applies in the treatment of both horses and dogs.
Since 2011, Dr. Schultz has been involved in anatomical and fascia-related research at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Her work focuses particularly on the fascial system and myofascial kinetic lines in horses and dogs. At the university she also occasionally teaches and serves as an examiner for veterinary and animal science students in anatomy and physiology.
She is a board member of the European Veterinary Society of Osteopathy and lectures internationally. Her lectures include topics such as “Fascia – the forgotten tissue” and myofascial kinetic lines in horses and dogs.
Together with her colleagues Vibeke S. Elbrønd and Tove Due, she co-authored the professional book “Equine Myofascial Kinetic Lines – for Professionals”.
